Stay Alert: Scammers May Be Targeting Individuals During Government Shutdown

With the federal government shutdown, scammers may attempt to take advantage of the situation to trick people into sharing personal and financial information. We want to help keep you and your accounts safe.

Be on the lookout for:

  • Phone calls pretending to be from the government or the bank, claiming accounts or benefits are at risk.
  • Emails or texts that sound urgent and include links to “verify” information.
  • Phishing messages asking for social security numbers, online banking logins, or credit card details.

To protect yourself:

✅ Don’t share personal information with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.

✅ Don’t click on suspicious links or call phone numbers provided in questionable messages.

✅ Reach out directly to us using the contact information on our official website or your bank card.

✅ Report anything suspicious right away to us and to the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
